Eileen Sedgwick is an artist and doll-maker based in the UK. She has been making one-of-a-kind, mainly twelfth-scale figures since 2003 but has worked in art and design all her life. Trained originally in Fine Art, she also taught for many years, specializing in large hand-built ceramics. This experience now combined with her interest in costume, textiles, and miniatures, is distilled into her unique figures. Each is made entirely by her from artist quality polymer clay without the use of moulds at any stage. She then paints, wigs, and dresses each character, also making all the accessories, and settings if needed.
Eileen produces a wide range of styles of figure, from more traditional doll-house dolls in accurate historical costume, to those inspired by paintings or music, or famous faces from film, books, television etc. through to original fantasy creations. There is a sense of life and movement in her work, and her attention to detail, careful choice of materials, high standard of craftsmanship, and sheer joy at the endless possibilities it allows, gives her work a unique quality and character of its own.
