Gertrude Florian "Mardi Gras"
Gertrude Florian
16" - Composition made by Florian

Gertrude Florian "Mardi Gras"

Description:
Mardi Gras was created by NIADA artist Gertrude Florian. She measures 16" and is made from what seems to be a type of composition that was particular to the design and art of dolls by Gertrude Florian. While she is not jointed, Mardi Gras does have an armature and her arms and legs may be bent and posed. Wig is human hair and the face painting is wonderfully delicate. I believe Mardi Gras was given as a Convention souvenir and was outfitted by many "moms" to their individual taste. This Mardi Gras is wearing a cotton half slip and a long satin gown with beadwork trim. Head, bust, lower arms and legs are made from the hard compo like material and her body is cloth.
